Jasper Morrison
b. 1959
A native of London, Morrison studied design at The Royal College of Art, and later attended the Universität der Künste in Berlin. In 1986 he set up an Office for Design in London, which quickly began attracting clients such as Cappellini, Alias, and Vitra. His products are highly functional and simplified to their most basic form, intending to give both commercial value and mass-market appeal. In 1995, Morrison was commissioned the design of the new Hannover Tram, the largest European light rail production at the time. His work was awarded the IF Transportation Design Prize and the Ecology award at the 1997 Hannover Industrial Fair. Morrison’s current projects include furniture design for the Tate Modern in London, a cookware line for Alessi, and a solo exhibition for Flos at the Yamagiwa Center in Tokyo.
