Marcel Wanders

b. 1963

Born in the Netherlands, Marcel Wanders studied at the School of the Arts Arnhem in 1988. He first gained recognition with his Knotted Chair, produced in 1996 by Droog Design. Wanders formed part of the collective of conceptual Dutch designers of the 1990s, bringing his own playful, cheeky aesthetic to the mix. He currently operates his own design firm, Marcel Wanders Studio, and is both co-owner and art director of the design label Moooi. His numerous clients include British Airways, Cappellini, Flos, Mandarina Duck, Cassina, and Magis.
