Marco Maran

b. 1963

A native of Italy, Marco Maran studied architecture and industrial design at the Institute of Art in Siena and the Facolta di Architettura in Florence. Fully established in his career, Maran is best known for his versatile, technological designs and interiors. Much of his work includes state of the art materials and production technology, such the X3 Barstool for Knoll– combining the support of a metal grid frame with a shell of clear polycarbonate. His seating has won numerous awards, from Best New Designer for his ‘Sinue’ chair, Product Design Achievement Award from the IIDA for the ‘Scoop’ chair, with a notable mention for the ‘Bla-Bla-Bla’ chair. Maran also gained recognition for his interior design of the Press Room for the 1998 World Cup in Paris, France.
