Maya Lin

Architect and designer Maya Lin is best known for her controversial Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. While still a senior architecture student at Yale University, Lin submitted her design to the national competition for the memorial– and won. Her career has since been established, based on a vast portfolio of memorials, public spaces, and interior products. Lin’s aesthetic sense is inspired by the balance between art and architecture, a reflection of her interest in landscape and environmentalism. In 2003, Maya Lin won the Finn Juhl award for good design.
