Neil Poulton
b. 1963
Scottish-born designer Neil Poulton studied at Napier University in Edinburgh and the Domus Academy in Milan. His mentors included Richard Sapper, Ettore Sottass, and Philippe Starck– whom he worked for in Paris from 1991-2. Poulton’s work is best characterized by his lighting and technology design, with clients such as LaCie, Artemide, Megalit and Atelier Sedap. His hard-drive designs are sleek and devoid of unnecessary exterior decoration, utilizing blue light as the only indicator. In 2007, the Centre Pompidou acquired six of Pouton’s pieces for permanent display.
